MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (April 7, 2024) – The West Virginia University tennis team defeated Iowa State, 4-1, on Senior Day at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts on Sunday.
West Virginia (14-9, 3-8 Big 12) battled with the Iowa State Cyclones to earn its third Big 12 Conference win of the season. The Mountaineers have their most wins in a season since they won 17 in 2010.
In doubles play, the pairing of junior Michaela Kucharova and senior Momoko Nagato won in the No. 1 seed match, 6-1. Due to the lack of players, Iowa State forfeited the No. 3 seed match as West Virginia took the point.
Junior Tatiana Lipatova won in the No. 5 spot, 6-1, 6-2, to earn the first singles win for West Virginia. In her final home match, Nagato sealed the win for the Mountaineers, as she won 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

West Virginia will face Texas Tech at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 11, in Lubbock, Texas, and BYU at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, in Provo, Utah.
