West Virginia women’s basketball was ranked No. 16 in ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings they released on Sunday following the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament.
The Mountaineers lost in the second round to Iowa, who was the eventual national runner-up.
Charlie Creme of ESPN had high praise for the Mountaineers, including saying, “prior to the Final Four, the team that gave Iowa its biggest challenge in the NCAA Tournament was West Virginia.”
He later added that if both JJ Quinerly and Jordan Harrison return, WVU could have “the conference’s best backcourt.”
West Virginia is coming off year one of the Mark Kellogg era, as he went 25-8, and won a first round game in the NCAA Tournament.
I’m looking forward to following next year’s team…fun to watch!!
Dedicated and hard working ,the mountaineer nation embraces and celebrates their amazing performance.
This team got me watching women’s basketball all season.
Looking forward to next season!
Wren Baker knocked the hire of Mark Kellogg out of the park. Pair that with that $10M donation to WBB, and the future looks VERY bright here at WVU. Especially for Womens College Basketball.
I started watching women’s basketball this year because of a friend’s daughter who plays for Marshall…..then started watching my alum WVU women. Both teams were so good and such fun to watch!! I SO wanted to see the Mountaineers “send Caitlin Clarke packing early”!! Almost!!! Can’t wait for next season to watch both such dynamic teams soar to new heights!!!!
