MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (April 30, 2024) – The West Virginia University tennis team will compete in the 2024 UTR Sports NIT Championship from May 6-8, in Bradenton, Florida, as announced on Tuesday.
West Virginia’s opponent has yet to be announced.
“We’re honored and excited to play in the NIT Championship,” head coach Miha Lisac said. “This is an important step for our program to take, and we look forward to representing the university on a national stage.”
This is the first postseason tournament appearance for West Virginia in program history.
The teams competing in the tournament include Appalachian State, Colorado, Liberty, Pacific, Saint Mary’s, Tulsa, West Virginia and Wyoming. The NIT Championship will air on Prime Video.
This is the second edition of the NIT Championship in women’s tennis. In 2023, TCU won the first championship after defeating Stetson.
West Virginia finished a successful regular season with its most wins in a season (14) and first winning season since 2010. WVU also claimed its most Big 12 wins in a single season since joining the conference in 2013.
