MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 6, 2024) – The West Virginia University tennis team will face Pacific in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 UTR Sports NIT Championship at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6, at the IMG Academy Tennis Courts in Bradenton, Florida.

The match will air on Prime Video. Final results will be available at WVUsports.com.

West Virginia (14-12, 3-10 Big 12) will face Pacific for the first time in program history. The winner of this match will face the winner of the Tulsa/Wyoming match in the semifinal round on Tuesday, May 7.

This is West Virginia’s first match since it fell to Baylor in the first round of the Big 12 Tennis Championship, 4-2, on April 17.

The Mountaineers have been led by three players throughout the season in singles play. Senior Momoko Nagato leads the team at 13-7, while redshirt sophomore Maja Dodik and junior Tatiana Lipatova have each eclipsed double-digit wins with 12 and 11, respectively.

In doubles play, the pairing of Nagato and junior Michaela Kucharova has found success, sitting at 12-8 overall. The pairing of graduate student Ting-Pei Chang and Lipatova is 6-5 on the year.

This is the first postseason tournament appearance for West Virginia in program history.

West Virginia finished a successful regular season with its most wins in a season (14) and first winning season since 2010. WVU also claimed its most Big 12 wins in a single season since joining the conference in 2013.
