Coming off an 8-4 season and a bowl win over North Carolina, the WVU football team has the most ‘hype’ they’ve seen in quite some time.

The Mountaineers have already found themselves in a couple of 2024 College Football Rankings and could have an official ranking during the 2024 season. They ended last season just outside the Top 25 at No. 29.

West Virginia is the 15th-winningest FBS team of all-team with over 700 wins All-Time. Since the AP Polls’ inception in 1936, the Mountaineers have been in the poll for a total of 306 weeks, let’s take a look at their poll history.

The first time WVU was ranked was in the 1953 preseason when they were ranked No. 16. They finished the season ranked No. 10.

The last time West Virginia was ranked was in 2018 when they were ranked No. 20 in the final AP Poll of the season. They started the season Ranked No. 17 in the preseason and were ranked as high as No. 6 in week seven.

The highest the Mountaineers were ever ranked was No. 2 in week 14 of the 2007 season. Which was towards the end of their longest streak of being ranked, at 45 weeks from week five in 2005 to week four in 2008.
