After visiting WVU with former Illinois teammate and new Mountaineer Amani Hansberry, Sencire Harris committed to West Virginia, becoming the second official transfer.
Harris redshirted this past season, so he will be a sophomore this upcoming season. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 3.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and just under an assist per game as a freshman at Illinois in 2022-2023. His career-high in points came against Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 17 2022 with 12.
Harris was a four-star and ranked as the No. 1 recruit in Ohio in the class of 2022. He was recruited out of St.Vincent-St.Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, the same high school LeBron James attended, by Chester Frazier. Frazier has since been hired by West Virginia as an associate head coach on Darian DeVries staff.
In his senior year, Harris led St.Vincent-St.Mary to their second-straight state championship, averaging 20.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.8 steals per game. He was named All-Ohio Co-Player of the Year by the OHSAA and Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.
Harris is the middle of five children, with an older brother and sister as well as two younger brothers. His sister Marquia played college basketball at Texas Southern and Xavier.
