History was made on Wednesday for West Virginia’s Golf Team, as they advanced to the NCAA Championships for just the second time in school history and the first time since 1947.
Competing in the NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional, the Mountaineers finished their three days of competition at +5. That would earn them a spot in the top five of the rankings of the 14 teams at the regional, sending them to the NCAA Championships.
WVU totaled 177 pars throughout the week, which was third best out of all competing teams. They also had a score of -2 on par-five’s, led by Max Green who was tied for the best individual score of -4 on par-five’s in the regional.
The NCAA Championships are set to be held May 24-29 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, in Carlsbad, California.
