With the selection show on Monday, the field of 64 is officially set for the 2024 NCAA Baseball Tournament.
Including West Virginia, six Big 12 teams will be competing in the tournament, the third most of all conferences. As many are probably already aware, the Mountaineers will be headed to the Tucson Region where they are the No. 3 seed.
The following will list the other five teams’ positions in the tournament, sorted in alphabetical order.
Kansas State
The Wildcats are 32-24 heading into the tournament and are in the Fayetteville Region as the No. 3 seed. The other teams in the region is the No. 1 seed and host Arkansas, the No. 2 seed Louisiana Tech, who KSU will face on Friday and the No. 4 seed Southeast Missouri State. Kansas State went 1-2 in the Big 12 tournament, losing to Kansas and TCU, but defeating WVU.
Oklahoma
In their last year in the Big 12 before a move to the SEC, the Sooners are 37-19 and hosting a region, also meaning they are the No. 1 seed, ninth-seed overall. The other teams in the region are the No. 2 seed Duke, the No. 3 seed UConn and the No. 4 seed Oral Roberts, who OU will open up against on Friday. Oklahoma went 4-1 in the Big 12 tournament, falling to Oklahoma State in the championship.
Oklahoma State
The Cowboys are 40-17, also hosting a region as the No. 11 seed overall, making their 11th straight appearance in the tournament. Teams in their region are the No. 2 Nebraska, the No. 3 seed Florida and the No. 4 seed Niagara, whom OSU will face on Friday. Like mentioned previously, Oklahoma State won the Big 12 championship, going 5-1 in the tournament.
Texas
The Longhorns are 35-22, also in their last season in the Big 12 before joining the SEC and will be competing in the Bryan-College Station Regional as the No. 3 seed. Other teams in the region are the host and No. 1 seed Texas A&M, No. 2 seed Louisiana, who Texas will play first on Friday and No. 4 seed Grambling. Like West Virginia, Texas went 0-2 in the Big 12 tournament.
UCF
The Knights are 35-19 and were one of the last four teams in. They’ll head to the Tallahassee region as the No. 3 seed, other teams in the region are the host/No. 1 seed Florida State, No. 2 seed Alabama, who UCF will play first and the No. 4 seed Stetson. UCF went 2-1 in the Big 12 tournament, defeating the eventual champion Oklahoma State, before falling to them in the next round (semis).
Cincinnati and TCU were a part of the first four out. Regionals for the 2024 NCAA Baseball Tournament begin on May 31 and will end on June 1, with Super Regionals on June 6-8 or 7-9, the College World Series starting on June 14 with the finals on June 22-24.
