MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (June 6, 2024) – Six members of the West Virginia University rowing team were honored by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association as 2023 CRCA Scholar-Athletes.

“These young women epitomize the term student-athlete, excelling in the classroom and on the water,” WVU rowing coach Jimmy King sid. “Their accomplishments largely reflect the high standards to which they hold themselves accountable and they are certainly worthy of acclaim.

“Kudos in particular to Emily DeGlopper and Ryleigh Williams for each earning their third award (three is the maximum CRCA Scholar-Athlete honors one can earn).”

The six Mountaineer student-athletes named to this year’s team are senior Katherine Capitan (heath and well-being), senior Emily DeGlopper (exercise physiology), sophomore Emma Higgins (marketing), sophomore Adriana Hogan (forensic biology), sophomore Grace Terlion (global supply chain management) and senior Ryleigh Williams (accountancy).

Capitan and DeGlopper graduated with their bachelor’s degree, and Williams earned her master’s degree in May.

To earn CRCA Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and must have competed in the NCAA team boats of First Eight, Second Eight and First Four for at least 75% of the team’s spring races or at its conference championship. Eligibility also is limited to student-athletes in their sophomore, junior and senior seasons.
