Tucker DeVries is entering his first season at West Virginia with pressure coming from several angles.
As the son of Darian DeVries, the head coach hired to turn around a Mountaineer squad that went 9-23 last season and finished last in the Big 12, and the premier recruit for the 2024-2025 season, Tucker DeVries has expectations to uphold in Morgantown.
Now, as NBA Draft mocks for 2025 begin to make their rounds online, DeVries has even more pressure to maintain his future. The Athletic released its first 2025 NBA mock draft on Wednesday, and DeVries made the cut for a second round projection.
Slated as the 37th pick overall, DeVries did not get a full bio from The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie, but with his name on the fringe of the first round so early, a successful senior season could put him in contention for a guaranteed rookie contract.
DeVries is projected to go just behind Johni Broome, the 6’10” center from Auburn, and before 6’7″ Iowa wing Payton Sandfort.
