After taking a step back from collegiate tennis as a junior, WVU Mountaineer Camilla Bossi is proving her worth at the next level of competition.

Bossi, who served as WVU’s top seed in every match she played last season, traveled to Slovenia this weekend to compete in the W15 Krsko. With $15,000 on the line, Bossi and her teammate Emma Slavikova won it all in doubles in a 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 final match victory.

The win is Bossi’s first professional title in either singles or doubles. She won a junior doubles title in 2018 in the grade five division of the ITF Juniors de Curitiba. The title is also the first for Slavikova, who ranks as the 952nd best doubles player by the ITF.

21-year-old Bossi currently does not hold a ranking with the International Tennis Federation, but she is full speed ahead on changing that. Bossi has competed in five professional doubles tournaments since the conclusion of WVU Tennis’s spring 2024 season and made the W15 finals on two separate occasions, with the first being a loss in the W15 Maringa in her home country of Brazil alongside partner Laticia Garcia Vidal.

Whether or not Bossi will return to the WVU tennis team this season is still unknown, as only five players are guaranteed for the upcoming season. If Bossi does return, she will likely not compete in the fall season, which has an unreleased schedule as of now.
