Members of the Pac-12 have officially landed in WVU territory, as the Big 12’s expansion to 16 teams was successfully completed on Friday.
Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah are the new additions to the Big 12, which now applies in all of the conference’s sports.
The expansion comes as long-time conference members Oklahoma and Texas move out to the SEC. The Sooners and Longhorns accounted for 14 Big 12 Championship titles in 2023-2024.
With the new Big 12 members’ departure, as well as the departure of six other schools, from the Pac-12, the conference has been reduced to just two members, Oregon State and Washington State. The pair will navigate uncertain futures this athletic season, which kicks off with football on Aug. 31.
