DUBROVNIK, Croatia (Aug. 6, 2024) – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team closed out its foreign tour with a 117-38 win over ZKK Buducnost on Tuesday. The win is the second straight game the Mountaineers have broken the century mark.
WVU jumped out to a 29-11 lead after the opening frame before pushing its advantage to 51-17 at halftime. The Mountaineers limited ZKK to just six points in the second quarter.
West Virginia came out firing in the third, pouring in 36 points, to an 87-27 lead after 30 minutes of play. WVU outscored ZKK 30-11 in the fourth to cruise to their third straight win.
Five Mountaineers finished in double-figures, led by junior guard Sydney Shaw for the second straight contest. The Miami, Florida native scored a trip-high of 23 points. Senior guard Kyah Watson filled the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds, five steals and two assists.
Despite battling foul trouble, senior guard JJ Quinerly finished with 14 points, six steals and three assists. Senior forward Tirzah Moore and freshman Jordan Thomas each added 13 points while freshman Guard Destiny Agubata recorded 11 points.
Junior guard Jordan Harrison matched Quinerly’s effort for the team lead in steals with six. Harrison added four assists, four steals and four points. Senior forward Danelle Arigbabu also recorded a team-leading seven rebounds.
The game was the final for the Mountaineers foreign tour. West Virginia will return to Morgantown on Thursday, Aug. 8 after spending two more days in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
