The West Virginia alumni wrote his thoughts on Baker and the NCAA on a post on X this morning.

McAfee stated that he had just heard Charlie Baker speak at a college football conference, and praised his speaking abilities. According to McAfee, Baker acknowledged the NCAA’s shortcomings in the past and that they have many things to figure out in the coming future.

“I, proudly, have been one of the largest NCAA critics,” McAfee wrote in the post. “It all stems from me watching what WVU and everybody around it BLOSSOM and expand wealth while Pat White, Steve Slaton, Owen Schmitt, Darius Reynaud, Reed Williams and many others received nothing. I (like many others) then started noticing over the next couple of decades that The NCAA is seemingly only in place to hold back and punish student-human-athletes. Petty actions lead to sever punishments and ticky tack violations were crippling folks’ careers…”

“We are now in a brand new time. Money is finally being spread to players, but we are also staring down a time where there NEEDS to be regulations on all of this brand new stuff, for the good of the school AND the athletes. From what I just heard, Charlie Baker is the dude to lead us to a smarter and better time for College Football/sports,” McAfee continued.

McAfee wrapped up his post by calling Baker an “absolute weapon” and saying that his levels of optimism for the NCAA are about “200x higher” since listening to Baker speak.

The football personality wrapped up his post wishing his followers a phenomenal Wednesday. “Feels like we’re in a great spot.”
