Tuesday was a major cut-down day for NFL teams as they looked to get down to an initial 53-man roster.

Unfortunately, some former WVU players didn’t make the roster, but a good number did. The following will look at Mountaineers who made rosters.

Out of West Virginia’s most recently graduated players in the league, center Zach Frazier was the only one drafted. Frazier and undrafted free agent Beanie Bishop Jr made the Pittsburgh Steelers roster. Doug Nester, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings as UDFA, did not make their roster but was signed to the Steelers practice squad.

Wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton, who was undrafted last year and missed his entire rookie year due to injury, made the New York Giants initial 53-man roster.

Coming off of his first Super Bowl appearance and entering his fifth year in the league, offensive lineman Colton McKivitz made the San Francisco 49ers roster.

Linebacker David Long Jr., entering his sixth year in the league, will be playing in the final year of a two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins as a member of their 53-man roster.

Defensive lineman Dante Stills, entering his second year in the league, and linebacker Kyzier White, entering his seventh year, both made the Arizona Cardinals’ initial 53-man roster.

Geno Smith is going to be entering his third season as the Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback as expected.

Entering his first full year with the Buffalo Bills, cornerback Rasul Douglas made their roster.

Linebacker Tony Fields II, is entering his fourth NFL season, playing in the last year of his rookie deal with the Cleveland Browns.

Wide receiver David Sills, Longsnapper Rex Sunahara and Quarterback Will Grier did not make their respective teams’ initial 53-man roster, but were signed to their practice squad. Devin Carter, Marcus Simms and Yodny Cajuste are listed as injured.
