The energy was in the air in the Morgantown area all off-season leading up to the Penn State week one matchup for the Mountaineers. Despite being the most expensive ticket in the country that week, Milan Puskar Stadium still found itself sold out for WVU’s biggest home opener since 1998.

The hype was enough to get 62,084 fans into the seats to watch both teams kick off the season in brutal heat for a noon kickoff game.

Part of the hype was built up pregame as WVU alum Pat McAfee hosted his show from campus on Friday and Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff hosted their pregame show Saturday morning, giving fans plenty to do in anticipation for the game.

The 62 thousand plus was good enough for second highest in the Big 12 just behind BYU at 63,712.
