Former West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith was on Good Morning Football Wednesday and was asked about the impact Tavon Austin had on him.

“He changed the game forever, just the amount of kids who grew up watching him and his highlight tapes and saw the things that he did when we were at West Virginia,” Smith said of Austin.

Austin’s famous ‘Only One‘ college highlight tape is regarded as one of the best of all time and currently has over 20 million views on YouTube. Smith and Austin played together at WVU from 2009 to 2012 and accomplished many feats together.

“He’s one of those one-of-one type of players. I don’t think there will ever be another player that plays the game and can do as much as he can, dynamic with the ball in his hands and just a great teammate overall,” Smith said. “He changed my life forever, made me a better quarterback, allowed me to grow, and you know, all the stuff that we did back in college; man, those will be memories that we keep forever and honestly just grateful to ever be able to play with him.”

Earlier this summer, Austin announced his retirement from the NFL, allowing many to reminisce about the memories he made on the gridiron. While Smith, his quarterback at WVU, will be entering his 12th season in the NFL and starting his third consecutive season for the Seattle Seahawks.
