In a rematch from the 2023 NCAA Quarterfinals, a game that sent WVU Men’s Soccer to their first ever College Cup, the Mountaineers finished in a 0-0 draw with LMU.

It was a game that was dominated from start to finish for the Mountaineers with an abundance of opportunities, but were ultimately unable to find the back of the net. WVU was able to take 25 shots, five on goal, while LMU only produced two shots, one on goal.

Ky Mani Dade came up big for the Lions with five saves including a full extension dive on a Simon Carlson free kick in the first half. The effort continued into the final minutes of the game, saving a last second shot on goal by the Mountaineers.

The rematch of last year’s quarterfinal marks the first game of the second straight week that WVU has played as the country’s number-one ranked team in the United Soccer Poll. It is the first draw of the season for the Mountaineers who now sit at 4-0-1 on the season.

The next time the Mountaineers are back in action is on Sept. 17, one day after the next release of the United Soccer poll. This result will be the only game for WVU before the new rankings.

The game will be back in Morgantown against UNC Greensboro starting at 7:00 p.m. ET. Fans can view the game on ESPN+.
