The West Virginia women’s volleyball improved their record to 5-5 on the season with a 3-0 win over Fairfield.

The Mountaineers volleyball team bounced back this afternoon against Fairfield with a 3-0 win on the road, after going 1-2 in the Liberty Tournament last weekend.

In the first set, the game went back and forth until the Mountaineers pulled away and took the set 25-21. They recorded 19 kills in the first set to Fairfield’s 14, and that’s how they won the first set.

In the second set, the Mountaineers took a 7-4 lead. Fairfield soon came back and tied the game at 10, and then it was back and forth until the end when WVU won 25-23.

In the third and final set, it was another back-and-forth game, but once again, the Mountaineers were able to overcome Fairfield and take the third and final set 25-23.

Redshirt junior Cassidy Tanton led the Mountaineers with 15 kills in the game, her third-highest total on the season.

The Mountaineers will travel to take on Binghamton on Saturday at 2 p.m. EST.
