During the second quarter of the Kansas vs. West Virginia game, Mountaineer cornerback Garnett Hollis Jr. was carted off the field after suffering an injury, and then safety/SPEAR Aubrey Burks was taken off the field on a stretcher in a neck brace.
Hollis did not start the game at corner Saturday but has in the previous three weeks. He is in his first season at WVU after transferring from Northwestern this offseason; he did not record a tackle in the game but has five tackles (four solo) and a pass defended on the season.
Burks, a senior, has been a staple in West Virginia’s defense for two years now. He had two tackles in the game.
