It was 90 minutes of back and forth soccer between West Virginia and Kentucky that ended in a 0-0 draw in front of a sold-out Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

In the first half, WVU was able to give themselves two chances on goal, but Kentucky goalkeeper Ryan Jack made both saves to keep the game knotted at zero going into halftime. It was a first half that statistically favored the Mountaineers who just could not get anything to go inside of the box.

The Mountaineers took nine total shots to Kentucky’s four and had five total corners in the first 45 minutes. While the ball stayed pressing the Wildcat defense, WVU was never able to convert.

Kentucky was able to respond in the second half and really control the Mountaineer’s offense attack, only allowing two total shots, one of which was on goal.

For WVU, keeper Marc Bonnaire was under a lot of pressure in the second half, having looked at eight Wildcat shots, the redshirt senior saved both of the two shots on goal.

What feels like a bitter draw for the country’s sixth ranked team, the Mountaineers has had to deal with lots of draws this season. They have now finished in a tie in three of their last four games. While remaining unbeated, their record will move to 5-0-3 on the year.

West Virginia fans can watch the team next in action at 6:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Bucknell. The game can be viewed on ESPN+.
