Following a bye week, West Virginia head coach Neal Brown has had extra time to continue to evaluate fresh.

As the Mountaineers prepare to take on Oklahoma State this week, Brown said that two of his freshmen, one on each side of the ball, would be the next guy up in the depth chart.

“I think on the d-line, Elijah Kinsler has done some nice things. He’s the next guy up, so like, if we have any injury, he’s going to be the next guy that’s getting in the rotation, and we’re getting more comfortable with him,” Brown said.

Kinsler is a 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman who has recorded one tackle this season. According to 247Sports, he was a three-star recruit and the No. 26 overall prospect coming out of New Jersey. Kinsler also had offers from Boston College, Louisville, Miami, Pitt, and Purdue.

The other player was a highly-touted recruit, Ric’Darious ‘DayDay’ Farmer.

“I think DayDay Farmer made some plays last week for us. He’s the next guy up at receiver,” Brown said.

Farmer has one catch for 10 yards and a rushing attempt for two yards on the season. Heading into the season, Brown said Farmer would have opportunities as a true freshman. DayDay was a four-star recruit who ‘flipped’ to West Virginia on National Signing Day. 247Sports listed him as the No. 46 wide receiver recruit in the class of 2024.

WVU travels to take on Oklahoma State this week. Kickoff will be at 4 p.m. EST, and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
