Coming off a strong freshman campaign, West Virginia running back Jahiem White has gotten off to a slow start in 2024.

White was among the top of the leaderboard for yards per carry last year in the FBS. While he did not see as many snaps in the beginning of the season, he saw a breakout towards the latter half and finished with close to 1,000 all-purpose yards and six all-purpose touchdowns.

With White looking to pick it up in his sophomore season, WVU offensive coordinator Chad Scott expressed confidence in his back.

“A lot more there,” Scott said of White. “Hopefully, one of his breakout games is coming. (It’d) be awesome if it could be this weekend.”

So far this season, White has 37 carries for 194 yards and three touchdowns. 100 yards and one of those touchdowns came against UAlbany (FCS).

“But he’s good mentally and he had a great week of practice and prep this bye week. And like I said hopefully he breaks out soon,” Scott said.

White is coming off a game against Kansas prior to the bye week, where he had just 15 yards on six carries but scored a touchdown in the early stages. He will look to put together an encouraging display when the Mountaineers travel to take on Oklahoma State this Saturday at 4 p.m. EST.
