MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (October 16, 2024) – Four student-athletes from the West Virginia University tennis team will compete in the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Regional Championship at the Virginia Tennis Complex at Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Virginia, from Oct. 17-22.
Matches are expected to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Seniors Michaela Kucharova and Mille Haagensen, redshirt junior Maja Dodik and freshman Laura Villaneuva Morillo will represent WVU at the ITA Regional Championship.
This is the first competition for the Mountaineers since the team hosted the Martha Thorn Invitational from Oct. 4-6, in Morgantown.
For the fall slate, Kucharova is 3-4, Haagensen is 5-4, Dodik is 5-2 and Villanueva Morillo is 4-3 overall. Villanueva Morillo did not compete at the Martha Thorn Invite.
Kucharova and Dodik will pair up for the ITA Championship while Haagensen and Villanueva Morillo will also team up in doubles play. Kucharova and Dodik have played together throughout the fall, sporting a 6-1 overall record. Haagensen and Villanueva Morillo are 4-2 in doubles play as a pair.
