WVU women’s basketball coach Mark Kellogg talked at Big 12 Media Day Tuesday about how the team’s handling the big expectations for the season.
At Tuesday’s women’s basketball Big 12 Media Day in Kansas City, Mark Kellogg was asked how the team is handling the expectations of being the No.16 ranked team in the country.
“No, we talk about it but not very often, when it first comes out, we talk about it very briefly, and then no, internally, we don’t really talk about it anymore,” Kellogg said on ESPN Tuesday at Big 12 Media Day.
WVU women’s basketball was recently ranked the No.16 team in the country to open the season, after making it to the second round of the NCAA tournament before losing to Iowa.
WVU is coming into the season with a really good and experienced starting lineup headlined by JJ Quinerly who was unanimously named to the preseason All-Big 12 team.
“To get some national TV coverage, you know last year we didn’t play on national TV at all, until the NCAA tournament and I think we’re up to five games now, so people are paying attention,” Kellogg said.
The Mountaineers are returning most of the key players from last year’s team, which was one of the top defenses in the country, and are looking to go even further in the tournament this year.
