Following a loss at home, the Mountaineers beat Arizona on the road this Saturday.

This was the first-ever match-up between the two teams. Senior defensive lineman TJ Jackson had positive feedback after the game.

“It was big for us to get this win,” Jackson said.

With a bye week approaching, the Mountaineers were looking to empty the tank before having time to rest. Jackson put up six tackles and one sack on Saturday.

Being out for an injury the week before, Jackson shared he was still experiencing some pain.

“I just tried to suppress it and worried about helping out my team,” Jackson said.

He explained that he did not practice the week before Kansas State but was healthy enough to get back on the field this past week.

“I compliment them on a great passing game,” Jackson said of Arizona.

He reflected on their effectiveness in spreading the ball around even under pressure. Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita had 294 passing yards and two touchdowns.

The Mountaineers’ record is 4-4 (3-2 in the Big 12). They will take on Cincinnati away on Saturday, Nov. 9.
