West Virginia guard/forward Tucker DeVries was one of 50 players named to the Naismith College Player of the Year Trophy Watch List on Wednesday.

The Naismith Trophy is awarded to the most outstanding men’s and women’s basketball players annually. Purdue’s Zach Edey won the trophy last year.

DeVries is entering his first season with the Mountaineers, transferring after his father, Darian was named the 23rd men’s basketball head coach in March. He was considered a top transfer after being a two-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and being the only NCAA Division I men’s basketball player to average at least 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in the 2023-2024 season.

In WVU’s scrimmage against the University of Charleston (DII) on Oct. 18, DeVries scored 18 points and had four assists, two rebounds, two steals and a block.
