The West Virginia volleyball team fell to the Kansas Jayhawks in three sets during an away match Saturday afternoon.
It was the second time the Jayhawks have swept the Mountaineers this season.
With a score of 25-18 in the first set, both teams posted similar stats. Kansas had 14 kills compared to the Mountaineers’ 12. Neither team recorded any aces, but Kansas pulled away with three blocks, while WVU only recorded one.
In set two, Kansas nearly doubled West Virginia’s points with a score of 25-13. The Mountaineers struggled offensively, only recording seven kills, the Jayhawks seeing 11.
In a back-and-forth final set, Kansas pulled away toward the end. West Virginia saw six errors leading to their loss and a score of 25-18 in set three.
Senior Hailey Green led the Mountaineers in both kills (12) and attacks (33). Graduate student Lauren Delo led with 20 assists.
The Mountaineers now have a record of 8-14 (2-9 in the Big 12). They will continue conference play by hitting the road to take on Cincinnati on Thursday morning at 11 a.m.
