The West Virginia Men’s Basketball team came out strong in their season opener against Robert Morris on Tuesday.

Every player on the court was making their debut for WVU, and there were plenty of promising signs, even against a mid-major opponent.

The Mountaineers opened with high-pressure defense, forcing numerous turnovers and scoring 21 unanswered points to start the game.

Leading the charge was senior Tucker DeVries, who scored 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-9 from three-point range. He also contributed four rebounds, an assist, and two steals. DeVries is expected to be a key player for West Virginia this season, and his impressive debut may have fans hopeful for more strong performances.

The Mountaineers kicked off the year just as they hoped and aim to continue their success on Friday when they face UMass at 7 p.m. at the WVU Coliseum.
