The son of recently retired WVU baseball coach Randy Mazey signed with the program his dad used to coach on Tuesday.

Mazey announced his retirement from coaching after the 2023 season, a season in which the team won a super regional for the first time in program history. With 372 wins, he is the third-winningest coach in Mountaineer Baseball history.

Weston Mazey has been a three-year starter for Morgantown High School. In three years, he has recorded 58 hits and one homerun.

Mazey has spent his childhood around the team and has always dreamed of playing baseball in Morgantown.

“It’s been a lot of years in the making; I’ve been looking forward to it for a while; I’ve always wanted to play for WVU; it’s going to be really special,” Mazey said during his signing day.
