The No. 19-ranked WVU wrestling team defeated Rider on the road 31-9.

The Mountaineers kicked off the dual with a 20-0 run. Jace Shaffer picked up a 1-0 decision, No. 22 (at 125) Jett Strickenberger picked up a pin, No. 15 Jordan Titus and No. 3 Ty Watters both notched technical falls.

Caleb Dowling lost by a 7-3 decision to No. 28 Colton Washleski just before No. 4 Peyton Hall had the Mountaineers’ third tech of the night, making the score 25-3 heading into the final three bouts.

No. 24 Brody Conley and No. 22 Ian Bush lost back-to-back matches by decision, making the match 25-9. No. 33 Austin Cooley had a 5-1 decision and Michael Wolfgram 7-6 to defeat the Broncs 31-9.

They are now 2-0 this season and will wrestle at the NWCA All-Star Classic (Exh.) on Saturday.
