West Virginia reigning All-Americans Peyton Hall and Ty Watters competed at the annual NWCA All-Star Classic in State College, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Watters, ranked No. 3 at 149, suffered a 16-4 major decision loss to No. 2 Shayne Van Ness of Penn State. It was Watters’ first loss of the season.
Hall, a senior ranked No. 4 at 165, was trailing 5-3 before he turned No. 8 Hunter Garvin of Stanford on his back, pinning him. Hall, a two-time All-American and four-time NCAA qualifier, becomes just the third Mountaineer wrestler all-time to pick up a win at the event, joining National Champions Scott Collins and Greg Jones.
The WVU wrestling team is back in action on Friday, Nov. 22, with a road dual against Appalachian State.
