The West Virginia football team will honor its senior class on Saturday when it takes on UCF.
The Mountaineers’ defensive unit features 11 seniors, each making significant contributions to the program.
Cornerback Garnett Hollis Jr., a transfer from Northwestern, joined WVU this season after spending his first three years with the Wildcats. Hollis has recorded 34 tackles and six pass deflections this year.
Safety Aubrey Burks has spent all four of his collegiate years in Morgantown. A key part of the WVU secondary throughout his career, Burks’ final season was cut short after just four games due to injury. Despite this, head coach Neal Brown confirmed that Burks will still participate in Senior Day.
Defensive lineman Sean Martin has also been with the Mountaineers for all four of his collegiate seasons. Over his career, Martin has accumulated 93 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.
Linebacker Tyrin Bradley, in his second season at WVU, has posted a strong year with 45 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception. He made a memorable interception against UNC in WVU’s Duke Mayo Bowl victory.
Defensive lineman TJ Jackson transferred to WVU after three productive seasons at Troy University, where he totaled 94 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks. In his senior year with the Mountaineers, Jackson has added 28 tackles and 5.5 sacks, continuing to disrupt opposing offenses.
Safety Kekoura Tarnue, in his first year at WVU after transferring from Jacksonville State, has contributed 32 tackles and half a sack this season. Tarnue has been a reliable part of the secondary.
Taurus Simmons, a five-year Mountaineer, has played his entire college career in Morgantown. Over his tenure, Simmons has tallied 26 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble.
Linebacker Ty French joined WVU this year after four seasons at Gardner-Webb. While he has posted 21 tackles this year, his standout season came in 2022 when he recorded 71 tackles and 10.5 sacks for Gardner-Webb.
Defensive lineman Fatorma Mulbah transferred to WVU from Penn State and has spent the last two seasons in Morgantown. During his time with the Mountaineers, Mulbah has notched 65 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Safety Anthony Wilson Jr., a key member of the WVU secondary, has been a standout this season. He has 79 tackles, two pass deflections, and a pick-six against Cincinnati in Week 11.
Cornerback Dontez Fagan, in his lone season with WVU, has recorded 26 tackles and three pass deflections.
The defensive unit aims to deliver a strong performance against UCF on Saturday afternoon. A win would make the Mountaineers bowl eligible, providing a fitting gift for the graduating senior class.
