MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Nov. 25, 2024) – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team climbed one spot this week to No. 12 in the third edition of the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Poll, released on Monday.

The Mountaineers are a perfect 6-0 this season and it is the second straight WVU has reached the mark. The ranking is the highest West Virginia has been featured in a regular season poll since being ranked the same during the 2018 season.
 
WVU earned 440 points in the poll. A total of four Big 12 teams appeared in the rankings, including No. 9 Kansas State (532), No. 15 Iowa State (337) and No. 17 TCU (275). Baylor is featured in the receiving votes section.
 
The Mountaineers hit the road for the first time this season for the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida this weekend. The Mountaineers open play on Friday, Nov. 29, with a matchup against High Point at 1:30 p.m. ET inside Hertz Arena. WVU will play two more games as part of the showcase on Saturday and Sunday with those matchups being determined following the first day of competition.
