According to sources cited by Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, Rich Rodriguez is among the leading candidates for West Virginia’s head coach opening; however, is not the clear-cut favorite.

Rodriguez, a West Virginia native, has a storied past with the Mountaineers. He was the head coach from 2001 to 2007 and left on somewhat bad terms, with fans at least.

Rodriguez is now the head coach at Jacksonville State, who just won the Conference USA championship game over Western Kentucky convincingly. There were also reports on Friday that Rodriguez would interview for the West Virginia job.

With the ‘Rich Rod’ train picking up steam, a reunion seems possible.
