Despite being fired just a couple of days before national signing day, former West Virginia head coach Neal Brown helped keep the Mountaineers’ 2025 class together, for the most part.
On Friday, Brown made his first media appearance post-firing on MetroNews Talkline with Hoppy Kercheval. He was asked about signing day and mentioned reaching out to recruits, still selling West Virginia as a great place.
“I texted those guys (recruits) the night before and I dealt with some of them on Sunday, too,” Brown said. “On Sunday and then Tuesday, I told those guys, West Virginia is a great place and regardless of whoever the next head coach is, it’s still passion here. You still have a chance to shine.”
Many were surprised with the class WVU had just a couple of days after their head coach was fired. In total, the Mountaineers signed 22 players to their 2025 class.
While we don’t know who the next head coach will be just yet, we do know that they’ll have a solid incoming freshman class to develop and work with.
This just shows you how much class Neal Brown has. Although most West Virginia fans including myself had posted he must go, his loyalty to the WVU Football Team shined when he helped keep the 2025 recruiting class together. After eating some crow, I now want to formally thank Neal Brown for his leadership and dedication to WVU Football. Thank You Mr. Brown for this class act, and I wish nothing but the best for you and your family in the future.
