Senior quarterback Garrett Greene will put blue and gold on one last time as the Mountaineers are set to play Memphis in the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 9 p.m.

With head coach Neal Brown being fired following the last regular season game, players have looked to veterans like Greene to stay focused during the interim.

“No matter what happens, the only thing that you can control is your effort, the work, and how you practice. I’m really trying to talk to everybody about just focusing on the task at hand and then worrying about Memphis,” said Greene. “I don’t think we have anybody here that’s not going to play.”

Greene has spent his entire college career at West Virginia and earned the starting position at quarterback at the beginning of last season. He has played in 34 career games, including 14 starts and earned the 2024 Iron Mountaineer Award.

Greene shared that in the last five years of being at West Virginia, he has no regrets. Preparing mentally and physically, he worked as hard as he could. He shared the state is filled with people who are hardworking and fight for what they believe.

“I think it’s deeper than just football, it’s an entire attitude and outlook on life,” said Greene. “No matter what happens in my life, I’ll always have that DNA with me.”
