Following the first home loss of the season to Arizona, the Mountaineers will embark on a two-game road
trip, including a ranked matchup with No. 12 Houston.

The team’s spirit has stayed high since Tuesday night when they did not have their best game. Head
Coach Darian DeVries does not seem worried about the trip.

“As long as you approach it right, and guys come out with the right mindset, it is fine,” he said. “It still
comes down to you and your focus, and going out and playing well,” DeVries added.

The Mountaineers will take their talents to Boulder on Sunday, in a matchup against a Colorado team still
looking for their first conference win. The team will then fly to Houston, where they will stay until their
matchup with what may be the best defense in the Big 12; a Cougars team currently on a 7-game win streak.

When asked about the injuries his team is currently dealing with, coach DeVries kept his theme
throughout the year and did not give any more information. He did, however, discuss the possibility of a
medical redshirt.

West Virginia is still without their second-leading scorer Tucker DeVries, and guard Jayden Stone, who
has not seen the floor yet this year.

“Unless it is an emergency, we would not want to do that to any of those guys,” said Coach DeVries.

He also added it is fully up to the players and how they want to deal with these injuries, whether to come
back later in the year or redshirt and wait until next season.

The team will fly out on Saturday, hoping to come back with two more Big 12 Conference victories.
