A pair of former Mountaineers, Beanie Bishop Jr. and Zach Frazier, wrapped up their NFL rookie seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers late Saturday evening. Pittsburgh’s 2024 season ended following a loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round.
Bishop Jr. signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent prior to the 2024 season. He made his NFL debut in a preseason matchup against the Texans where he was one of Pittsburgh’s 11 starters on defense. In his nickel cornerback spot, he recorded four tackles in the first half.
Without appearing in the final three games of the season, Bishop Jr. recorded 45 total tackles including 30 solo tackles. The rookie had four total interceptions, two being in a Week 7 matchup against the New York Jets.
Frazier, a West Virginia native, was the Steelers’ 51st pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Like Bishop Jr., he made his NFL debut in the preseason matchup against the Texans entering the game as a center after two snaps.
At the conclusion of the 2024 season, according to Pro Football Focus, Frazer played 975 offensive snaps and only allowed one sack. He missed two games in the middle of the season due to an ankle injury. Frazier also won the Joe Greene Great Performance Award highlighting the team’s rookie of the year.
Bishop Jr. has two years remaining on his contract while Frazier has three.
Congratulations to Zach Frazier and Beanie Bishop Jr. No surprise how well they did. # WV PROUD!!!
