Former Mountaineer kicker Michael Hayes finished his college football career of six years following the 2024 season. In a social media post, Hayes thanked his coaches and finished his message sharing his excitement to potentially play at the next level.

“The days are long but the years are short…I’m grateful for everything these past 6 years of college football have given me,” Hayes said in his post.

Before attending West Virginia, Hayes spent four years at Georgia State where he was used as a kicker and punter. He saw action in 35 games, made 12 field goals on 15 attempts, and punted for 6,801 yards.

During his time at West Virginia, Hayes played in 26 games and made 30 field goals on 35 attempts.

Hayes received honors such as Sun Belt Conference honorable mention kicker and punter and Big 12 Conference honorable mention kicker all while earning two degrees.

Although the graduate did not confirm he will be entering the NFL draft, he hinted at the potential opportunity to continue his football career.

“…I am excited for the possibility of having more football ahead of me at the next level,” Hayes said.
