As we shift into spring ball, the 2025 transfer class officially signed to play football at West Virginia under Head Coach Rich Rodriguez. The following will keep you updated on the new Mountaineers.
Ashton Woods, LB, North Carolina
Ashton Woods played four games for UNC before redshirting during his first season. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound linebacker is originally from Marietta, Ga and attended Walton High where he was a three-year varsity starter. Ashton was an All-American Bowl participant, a two-time all-state selection, and two-time region defensive player of the year and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Braden Siders, DL, Wyoming
Braden Siders joins the Mountaineers with just one year of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-3, 252-pound defensive end put up 91 tackles, 14 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss during his career at Wyoming. Last season, he started in all seven games he played and recorded 22 tackles, including 3.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss.
Cam Vaughn, WR, Jacksonville State
Cam Vaughn, a redshirt sophomore, joins the Mountaineers from Jacksonville State. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver played in 14 games of the 2024 season, starting the last eight. He led the Gamecock receivers with 48 catches for 803 yards and five touchdowns and earned All-Conference USA Freshman team honors. Vaughn has three years of eligibility remaining.
Chase Wilson, LB, Colorado State
Chase Wilson, a linebacker from Colorado State, is a two-time All-Mountain West Conference Second-Team honoree. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound redshirt senior put up 234 tackles, including six sacks, 14 tackles for loss, two interceptions, nine pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries during his career at Colorado State. Wilson started all 13 games of the 2024 season and has one year of eligibility remaining.
Derek Carter, CB, Jacksonville State
Derek Carter, a cornerback from Jacksonville state, joins the Mountaineers with one year of eligibility remaining. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound redshirt senior put up 31 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss and one interception and one breakup during the 2024 season. Carter was a Second-Team All-Conference USA selection at cornerback during the 2023 season and tied for No. 6 in the league with eight passes defended.
Cyrus Traugh, WR, Youngstown State
Cyrus Traugh, a West Virginia native and redshirt sophomore, is returning home! During the 2024 season, the 6-foot, 180-pound wide receiver earned FCS Freshman All-American honors and was the teams second-leading receiver with 36 catches for 409 yards and a team-leading five receiving touchdowns. Traugh has three years of eligibility remaining.
Devonte Golden-Nelson, CB, Memphis, Akron
Devonte Golden-Nelson, a redshirt senior from Akron, joins the Mountaineers for just one season. The 5-foot-11, 178-pound cornerback transferred to Akron from Memphis following the 2021 season. During the 2024 season, Golden-Nelson played in 12 games, collecting 33 tackles and was named to the Academic All-MAC Team in 2023.
Ethan Head, K, Tulane
Ethan Head, a sophomore from Tulane, is the only kicker in the 2025 transfer class. During the 2024 season, Head made four of his five field goal attempts and went 1/1 on 20-29-yard attempts and 3/4 on 30-39-yard attempts. Head stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs in at 182 pounds. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Fred Perry, N/S, Jacksonville State
Fred Perry played safety at Jacksonville State under Rich Rodriguez. During the 2024 season, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound senior started in all 12 games in which he played and led the Gamecocks with 110 tackles, including 47 solo stops. Perry was a 2024 All-Conference USA First-Team safety and has one year of eligibility remaining.
Jacob Barrick, TE, Jacksonville State
Rodriguez also coached Barrick last season at Jacksonville State. The Martinsburg native returns to Almost Heaven as a rising senior with experience as a primary blocker from the tight end position. Barrick stands at 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds. Barrick played all 14 regular season games and in the postseason in 2024.
Jarod Bowie, WR, Jacksonville State
Bowie also returns to the state as a Martinsburg native. Playing for Rich Rodriguez, Bowie caught 13 receptions for 207 yards in 14 games at Jacksonville State last year. This was an increased role from his prior season as a Gamecock, where he played just three games with the special teams. Before that, he found success in two seasons at Concord in Division II ball. Bowie is 5-foot-9 and weighs 160 pounds. He will be a senior in 2025.
Jason Chambers, CB, Appalachian State
At 5-foot-11, 178 pounds, Chambers has experience with two other collegiate programs before coming to WVU as a senior. Most recently, he played all 11 games at Appalachian State, recording 38 tackles, including 25 solo tackles, and one interception. Beforehand, Chambers tallied 62 tackles in two seasons at North Carolina Central. Chambers is a North Carolina native and went to Butler High School.
Jaylen Henderson, QB, Texas A&M
West Virginia’s first quarterback signing of Thursday is 6-foot-3, 229-pound senior Jaylen Henderson from Los Angeles, California and Texas A&M. Henderson committed to WVU on Jan. 4 and connected with the Pat McAfee show in the weeks after. Henderson saw no action last season but most recently threw 53-for-78 for 715 yards and six touchdowns and rushed 41 times for two touchdowns. Prior, Henderson played five games in two seasons at Fresno State.
Jordan Scruggs, N/S, South Alabama
Scruggs enters his senior year after years of rising up the ranks of collegiate play. After a season with no recorded statistics in at Washburn, he transferred across Division II ball to Central Missouri, where he recorded 37 tackles in 11 games. Scruggs then played at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, recording 38 tackles in 11 games before playing this most recent season at South Alabama. Scruggs recorded 11 tackles and an interception in three games. He stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs in at 190 pounds.
Johnny Pascuzzi, TE, Iowa
Johnny Pascuzzi, a tight end from Iowa, appeared in 10 games and earned his first career start during the 2024 season. In 2023, Pascuzzi earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. The redshirt senior has one year of eligibility remaining. Pascuzzi stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 242 pounds.
Jimmori Robinson, DL, Dodge City CC, Monroe, UTSA
Jimmori Robsinson, a redshirt senior, joins the Mountaineers with one year of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-4, 262-pound defensive lineman started in 12 of the 13 games he played and recorded 43 tackles, including 27 unassisted tackles, 10.5 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two pass breakups during the 2024 season. Robinson previously played at Dodge City Community College, Monroe College, and UTSA.
Jordan Walker, S, UT-Chattanooga
Jordan Walker, a redshirt senior, totals 147 tackles, including 80 solo stops, four interceptions, 1.5 sacks, 9.5 tackles for loss and nine pass breakups. During the 2024 season, Walker earned All-Southern Conference Second Team honors and saw action in six games. The 6-foot, 190-pound safety has one year of eligibility remaining.
Justin Harrington, S, Oklahoma, Washington
Justin Harrington, a redshirt senior safety, transferred from Oklahoma to Washington following the 2023 season. Harrington will now call Morgantown his new home with one year of eligibility remaining. During the 2024 season, Harrington saw action in eight games and put up three tackles. Harrington stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 214 pounds.
Max Brown, QB, Charlotte
Rising junior Max Brown joins the quarterback room from Charlotte after two seasons at Florida and one with the 49ers. Brown redshirted as a freshman and started one game with the Gators in 2023. Brown played five games at Charlotte this season, including one where he threw 45 pass attempts and completed 22, struggling with 193 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Brown finished 43-for-93 on the season for 561 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions to go with 72 rushing yards. Brown is 6-foot-3 and 233 pounds.
Michael Coats Jr., CB, Nevada
After earning All-Mountain West First Team, College Football Network’s All-America Honorable Mention, and HERO Sports Group of Five All-America First Team honors, Coats will play his final collegiate season at WVU. At 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, Coats made 41 tackles and caught four interceptions in 13 games last season with Nevada. The season prior, he played 10 games and went for 42 yards on one interception to go with 13 tackles on the year. Coats played football at East Central Community College for three seasons after not playing football in high school before going to Nevada.
Kimo Makane’ole, OL, LSU
6-foot-4, 300-pound lineman Makane’ole comes to WVU after four seasons at LSU. After redshirting as a freshman, Makane’ole saw action in 19 games across five seasons. In 2024, Makane’ole played on the defensive side of the ball for the Tigers and played 10 total games as a defensive lineman this year. Makane’ole is expected to return to the offensive line at West Virginia.
LJ Turner Jr., RB, Catawba
A true senior, Turner comes off three seasons at Catawba, where he rushed for 1,961 yards and 20 touchdowns in 27 total games. Turner missed the last three games of the 2024 season but still made the AFCA All-American Second Team for Division II schools, rushing for 1224 yards and 13 touchdowns on 174 carries. Turner Jr. is 5-foot-9 and 189 pounds.
Robby Martin, OL, NC State
Huntington native and 6-foot-3, 297-pound lineman Robby Martin committed on Jan. 11 to WVU. He comes to Rich Rodriguez ready to learn and with plenty of eligibility after redshirting at NC State this past season.
Oran Singleton Jr., WR, Eastern Michigan
Singleton Jr. will be a redshirt senior this season after playing at Akron, Hutchinson Community College with reunited teammate Jordan Scruggs, and this past year at Eastern Michigan. Singleton made 64 catches in 12 games for 639 yards and two touchdowns with the Eagles. He also saw opportunities in the backfield, rushing six times for 23 yards. The Clawiston, Florida native is 5-foot-9 and 164 pounds.
Ty’Kieast Crawford, OL, Charlotte, Arkansas
At 6-foot-5, 327 pounds, Crawford adds valuable experience after playing the past four seasons at Arkansas. Crawford played only the season opener in 2024 but saw action in 32 games and started six in the three years prior. Crawford also played six games at Charlotte in 2020 as a freshman.
Walter Young Bear, OL, Tulsa
After four seasons at Tulsa, 6-foot-3, 312 pound Bear comes to WVU’s offensive line. Bear played in all 23 games of Tulsa’s last two seasons, starting in all 11 in 2024. Before that, Bear played in 10 games as a redshirt freshman. His high quantity of reps at the highest level should make Bear a valuable asset for Rich Rodriguez in his final year.
Wyatt Minor, OL, Youngstown State
A West Virginia native from Clarksburg, Wyatt Minor returns home with three years of eligibility. Minor made one appearance against Valparaiso during the 2024 season after redshirting in 2023 at Youngstown State. In high school, the offensive lineman was a Class AA All-State Honorable-Mention. Minor is 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 315 pounds.
Tye Edwards, RB, Georgia Military Academy/ Hutchinson CC/UTSA/Northern Iowa
Tye Edwards is the second running back to join the 2025 transfer class. During the 2024 season at Northern Iowa, Edwards earned All-MVFC Honorable Mention and rushed for 1,047 yards on 157 attempts. Previous to Northern Iowa, Edwards spent time at UTSA, Hutchinson Community College, and Georgia Military Academy. The 6-foot-2, 237-pound redshirt senior has one year of eligibility remaining.
William Davis, DB, Virginia Union
William Davis comes off of an impressive season at Division II Virginia Union. During the 2024 season, the 5-foot-10 190-pound safety appeared in 14 games totaling 56 tackles, including 11.5 tackles for loss. He recorded one sack, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. The redshirt senior has one year of eligibility remaining.
