West Virginia has announced officially that Tucker DeVries will not return to action for the Mountaineers this season.

Senior forward Tucker DeVries hasn’t suited up for the Mountaineers since early December and has now officially been shut down for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season. DeVries is in his first season with the Mountaineers.

He averaged 14.9 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game in the eight games he appeared in this season for WVU.

DeVries will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday, Feb. 5th, the team announced in a statement. The next step for the Mountaineers will be to apply for a medical redshirt and hope that they can get a full year of DeVries services next season.

To receive a medical redshirt the player must play in under 30% of the team’s games which is around nine games. DeVries played in eight.
