MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Feb. 8, 2025) – The West Virginia University gymnastics team continues its two-meet homestand with a Big 12 Conference matchup against Iowa State on Sunday, February 9. Competition inside the WVU Coliseum is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.

Sunday’s meet will be WVU’s annual Pink Meet for breast cancer awareness. It’s also the first-ever Greek Meet, and the Greek Life organization with the largest membership in attendance will win a $200 gift card from the GOAT Sports Bar and Grille. We also will celebrate Black History Month with campus organizations on the concourse prior to the meet and a special recognition during the meet. The first 250 fans in attendance will receive a cell phone wallet giveaway.  

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com or calling 1-800-WVU GAME to avoid lines at the gate on meet day. Michael Minnich and Erica Williams will have the call of Sunday’s meet on ESPN+. Live stats also are available at WVUsports.com.

Of note, Sunday’s meet marks the return of assistant coach Kaylyn Millick, who previously worked with the WVU coaching staff from 2015-17 and 2019-20. She begins her sixth season as an assistant for West Virgina on Sunday.

Iowa State holds a 16-7 advantage in the all-time series between the two teams. WVU and ISU last met in the 2024 Big 12 Championship. Iowa State took fourth place with a 196.35 team total, while WVU finished in fifth with a 195.125. West Virginia and Iowa State also met in a tri-meet with Denver during the regular season last year. The Cyclones claimed a 195.675-195.25 victory in Morgantown on Feb. 18. Iowa State enters Sunday’s competition with a 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the Big 12 in 2025. ISU is coming off a narrow, 195.825-195.95 loss to conference newcomer Arizona State on Jan. 31.

Last time out, WVU recorded a season-high 195.475 in a tri-meet against No. 2 Florida and No. 4 Utah in Morgantown on Feb. 2. The Mountaineers used season-high totals of 49.225 on floor exercise and 49.0 on balance beam to record their first 195.0+ score of the season. WVU also tallied scores of 48.575 on vault and 48.675 on the uneven bars/ The Gators took first place in the meet, scoring a 197.575, while Utah placed second with a 197.425.

Sophomore Jurnee Lane recorded her first-ever performance on the all-around, reaching a 38.975 total on all four events. The score was good for sixth place out of seven opposing gymnasts also competing on the all-around. Senior Anna Leigh tied for second place in the final standings on floor with a 9.925.

In this week’s Road to Nationals rankings, the Mountaineers rank No. 50 overall in the fifth week of rankings for the 2025 season. Their highest event ranking is on floor, where they sit No. 34 with a season average of 48.885 on the event. Additionally, West Virginia is No. 6 in the Big 12 and No. 7 in the southeast region on floor. 

Individually, sophomore Julia Brown ranks No. 18 in the Big 12 and No. 23 in the southeast region on beam. Fifth-year senior Trinity Macy ranks No. 22 in the league and No. 23 in the region on bars.
