The West Virginia women’s basketball team faces TCU in the semifinal game of the Big 12 Tournament today. The Mountaineers are coming off of a close win over Kansas State following a two-game bye.

TCU recently defeated Colorado in their afternoon matchup yesterday by a score of just 69-62. Both teams will be eager to secure a spot in the championship game Sunday evening as the last time they met in the Big 12 tournament was in 2022.

While the Horned Frogs currently hold the upper-hand as they defeated the Mountaineers in conference play this season, West Virginia holds the overall series at 23-6 since their first meeting on Dec. 9, 1989. TCU has fallen to the Mountaineers in their last nine meetings before this season.

TCU enters the matchup with a talented roster including the Big 12 Player of the Year, Hailey Van Lith. This season, the senior guard averages 17.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. She shoots 45.6% from the field, 33.9% from behind the arc, and 80% from the free-throw line.

West Virginia’s JJ Quinerly was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the year. Standing only at 5-foot-8, this season she is averaging 20.6 points, three rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. Quinerly shoots 45% from the field, 32.9% from behind the arc, and 82.3% from the free throw line.

The Mountaineers look for revenge today with a tip-off time of 4 p.m. ET.
