While rumor spread that inside receivers coach Blaine Stewart was leaving West Virginia to return to the NFL, he finally confirmed after releasing a statement about his departure today.

Stewart was beginning his third year with the Mountaineers after serving as the tight ends coach for the last two season under Neal Brown. Rich Rodriguez rehired this season.

Stewart had nothing but positive things to say for the program and the state.

“This place and this program has meant the world to me. It’s not just where I’ve grown as a coach, but where I’ve grown as a person. It’s where my roots run deepest, and where my family’s legacy is forever intertwined with the fabric of the university,” he wrote.

While he didn’t mention where he is headed, most speculate he will coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
