Junior guard Isaac McKneely has entered his name into the transfer portal with a ‘do not contact’ tag after spending three seasons at Virginia.
Issac McKneely is a Poca, West Virginia native and has decided to enter the transfer portal. McKneely is a player that the Mountaineers could potentially look to grab out of the transfer portal due to his ties to the state. Over the past two years at Virginia, he has started every game playing over 32 minutes a game for each of the last two years, scoring 12.3 points and 14.4 in that span. This past season, he shot 43.9% from the field and 42% from three.
West Virginia offered McKneely when he was coming out of high school and may look to be aggressive to get their hands on him. In 2022, he won the Evans Award for the second time, an award given to the top basketball player in the state of West Virginia.
With the portal officially opening on Monday, it becomes even more crucial that Wren Baker and his staff wrap up the head coaching search as soon as possible so they can start building the team and looking ahead to next season.
