Mark Kellogg has officially landed transfer guard, Loghan Johnson. The Houston, Texas native signed to West Virginia with two years of eligibility remaining.
Johnson started her collegiate career at Texas Tech where, over the last two seasons she racked up a total of 346 points, 178 rebounds, and 90 assists. Johnson has started in 13 of her 69 total collegiate games where she has logged a total of 1,266 minutes on the floor.
This past season at Texas Tech, Johnson appeared in all 37 games for the Red Raiders where she mainly came off the bench making only four starts. Johnson averaged 5.5 points from the field and 2.5 rebounds with her career-high stemming from a 17-point performance against Oklahoma State. Do not let the 5.5 points per game fool you, as Johnson is an extremely effective shooter, down 52.3% of her attempts from the field.
Coming out of high school, Loghan Johnson was a four-star recruit and was a part of “ESPNW’s Top 100” for the class of 2023. Johnson played high school basketball at Houston Christian Academy, where she led the team to back-to-back 4A state championships in 2022 and 2023. Johnson picked up several accolades along the way that highlighted her impressive high school career, including being named the TABC Large Private School Player of the Year in both 2022 and 2023, being named to First Team honors in the Southwest Prep Conference, and becoming a McDonalds All-American Nominee.
Loghan Johnson will be a great asset for Coach Mark Kellog this upcoming year as the Mountaineers look to bounce back from their loss in the NCAA Tournament with hopes of making an even deeper run this upcoming season. With the loss of standout Guard, JJ Quinerly, Loghan Johnson could be a good replacement piece in the Mountaineer’s rotation.
