MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 29, 2024) – Six members of the West Virginia University wrestling team received 2024 Division I Scholar All-America awards from the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Friday afternoon.
The Mountaineers eclipsed the school record of four set by the 1998 squad and extended the best stretch in program history of claiming three or more NWCA Scholar All-Americans in four straight years – 2021 (3), 2022 (3), 2023 (3), and 2024 (6).
Additionally, senior Peyton Hall became the first four-time NWCA Scholar All-American in program history (2021-24), while senior Caleb Dowling registered his second appearance in back-to-back years. Juniors Michael Dolan and Tristan Kemp as well as redshirt freshmen Brody Conley and Ian Bush rounded out the group by making their debuts.
Hall, Dowling, Conley, Bush, Dolan and Kemp moved WVU’s total number of Scholar All-Americans to 39 all-time and are on track to pick up Academic All-Big 12 first-team honors.
The six join 332 additional student-athletes representing 77 institutions in earning the distinction.
To be eligible for Scholar All-America status, a wrestler must have fulfilled one of the four requirements:
