On Thursday the West Virginia men’s basketball team officially signed class of 2024 guard Emerson ‘KJ’ Tenner.

Tenner verbally committed to WVU back on April 4th, after being originally signed to Drake to play for new West Virginia head coach Darian DeVries. Tenner was since granted a NLI release and will be apart of DeVries’ roster next season.

The 6-foot guard from Memphis won Tennessee’s Mr.Basketball in Class 4A this past season. He averaged over 21 points in his senior season year helping him achieve that feat. As a junior he averaged 23 ppg and 28 ppg as a sophomore, leading the city of Memphis in scoring that season.

Tenner became the fastest played in Cordova High School to reach 1,000 career points, as he reached that milestone in just 42 games. Tenner is currently the lone player signed to WVU in the class of 2024 as formerly signed Carmelo Adkins was granted an NLI release after the head coaching change.
