The NFL Draft is finally here, and while it is unlikely the Mountaineers will have any former players drafted, there are a few names to keep an eye out for as the later rounds go on and as undrafted free agents get signed.

Leddie Brown
The former Mountaineer RB eclipsed over 1,000 rushing yards in each of the previous 2 seasons, finishing 6th all time in WVU career rushing yards. He also finished with 32 total TD’s, including 14 in his final season. This landed him on NFL draft boards, and the only Mountaineer to receive an invite to the NFL combine. However his lack of speed and pass catching ability out of the backfield leave a lot to be desired for the current NFL, so Brown may not hear his name called on draft night.

Alonzo Addae
Addae transferred to WVU to play his final 2 seasons of college football, and started every game he played for the Mountaineers. In 23 career games Addae finished with 139 total tackles, 2 interceptions and 1 forced fumble. He was named an honorable mention on the 2021 All-Big 12 team and was invited to the 2022 Hula Bowl for NFL draft prospects. Addae’s most likely post WVU team will most likely not be an NFL one though, as being Canadian, he was selected 13th overall to the Ottawa Redblacks in the 2021 CFL draft, and if he does not find an NFL home on draft night could head there.

Sean Mahone
Mahone played in his 6th season with the Mountaineers in 2021, and became WVU’s all time leader in games played. He finished with 219 career tackles, 4 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles. Mahone participated in WVU’s pro day, but was not invited to any other NFL camps, and will be hard pressed to hear his name called on draft night. He will likely have to look to sign with a team as an undrafted free agent.

Scottie Young
Young transferred from Arizona to WVU prior to the 2020 season, but had to redshirt that season due to the NCAA transfer rules at the time. He played his lone full season at WVU in 2021, finishing with 27 tackles and 3 passes defended. Young was another player who participated in WVU’s pro day, but did not receive any other NFL camp invites and will likely look to find his way onto a roster as an UDFA.
